Bringing your child home with medical needs can feel overwhelming. Asking the right questions can help you understand what support you may need to feel more confident and prepared.
Consider The Following:
➡️ Am I fully prepared to manage my child’s medical needs at home—such as medications, dosages, ventilators, feeding tubes, or tracheostomy care?
➡️ Are there tasks or areas of care where I feel unsure, anxious, or undertrained?
➡️ Do I feel confident providing this level of care on my own, or do I need extra hands or guidance?
➡️ Would having support from trained professionals—like nurses or personal support workers—make daily care feel safer and more manageable?
➡️ Is the care I’m able to provide at home meeting the same quality and safety standards as hospital care?
➡️ Do I have access to a well-rounded team of professionals—such as therapists, specialists, or nurses—to support my child’s overall health and development?
➡️ Have I planned ahead for emergencies or unexpected changes in my child’s condition?
